What time is the coronavirus press briefing today?
Today’s press briefing will be held at 5pm as usual.
He will make a 10-15 minute speech, then if there’s a medical officer present they will give us a run down of the statistics and medical situation.
The panel will then take questions from the public and the press.
Today’s press conference will stream live to the video at the top of this article.
You can also find it broadcast live on YouTube here.
We are also covering it in real-time on our fantastic live blog here, where we will update you with what else is happening as it happens every ten minutes or so until 1am.
What is Boris Johnson set to announce?
Boris is likely to be going over the main news of the day, the almost unlocking of Britain.
At lunchtime today he announced that England will be almost all the way out of lockdown from July 4 with only a few more businesses waiting for the green light.
He is expected to expand more upon the latest changes to the lockdown, which will come into play from July 4.
In a major update today, Boris announced:
- He was slashing the 2m rule down to ‘1m plus’
- Staycations from July 4 got the green light as hotels and bed and breakfasts were told they could reopen
- Pubs will also reopen from July 4 – but only one household can go inside with another and new measures will be in place
- After three long months Brits will finally be able to get a haircut
- But nail salons, gyms and nightclubs will remain closed for now
- People will be allowed to see one other household inside – but they must still keep their distance
- And sleepovers are finally allowed from July 4
- Full list of all businesses allowed to reopen
You can find more details on what he said earlier here.
Is this the last coronavirus daily briefing?
The Cabinet has been holding the near-daily briefings since March 16, for over 90 days.
From now on they will only happen when there is a significant announcement to make, the Government said.
Where can I find the data on deaths and cases in future?
We will still be updating the count daily because, as the PM said earlier, the UK is not out of the woods yet.
Our blog runs from 8am to 1am too, and that will give you everything we know as it happens.
The government will be publishing the daily stats on the gov.uk site every weekday.
You can also find them on official global counters like Johns Hopkins University, which is a reliable one that most news outlets use to keep an eye on global trends.
