The Politician season three is looking likely following the success of season two, which has just landed on Netflix. The series stars Ben Platt as Payton Hobart, an ambitious student who has a dream of becoming the President of the United States. Season two saw Payton come up against a huge rival – Dede Standish (Judith Light), the majority leader for the New York State Senate.

Will there be a season 3 of The Politician?
Creator of The Politician, Ryan Murphy, has teased a new season will be made, but it may take a little longer to land on Netflix.
The 54-year-old creator, who also worked on American Horror Story, has already said he imagined a three-season story arc.
However, he said the new season may come a little later than expected, in order to give the main character a chance to evolve.
He told Collider: “I think for me, for that show, I would like to do, and I think all of us involved in it, would probably like to do three seasons total.
“And I think where season two ends, what I would love to do is take a couple of years off and have Ben Platt get a little bit older for his final race.
“That would obviously be a presidential race, right? That’s always what we had designed, and I think that’s what our plan is. I’m going to wait.
“Ben is young, so I want to wait a couple of years to figure out how we age him up a little bit. But that’s always been my plan.”
With this in mind, fans may be waiting a few years for the next season to drop on Netflix.

Who will be in the cast of The Politician season 3?
Murphy has already hinted Platt will reprise his role as the main character, albeit he will look slightly older this time around.
Hobart’s trusty campaign team will most likely return, including Alice (Julia Schlaepfer), who was his girlfriend in season two.
Laura Dreyfuss will probably return as McAfee Westbrook, Payton’s campaign manager and close advisor.
In the final episode of season two, fans were introduced to Franklin (David J Cork), a new love interest of McAfee’s – so he may well come back for season three.
As the new season will focus on an entirely new campaign race, new characters are likely to be introduced as the antagonists standing in Hobart’s way.
Is there a trailer for The Politician season 3?
As an official release date has not yet been confirmed, there is sadly no trailer available for The Politician season three.
With Murphy hinting it could be years before the third season is aired, fans will probably be waiting a while for a trailer to drop.
Fans have already expressed their excitement as season two landed on Netflix, and they have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts.
One fan said: “The plot is definitely cheesy and over the top but it still has some really solid moments.
“Ben Platt and Judith Light are both so much fun to watch as their characters battle it out. Nothing spectacular but still enjoyable and entertaining.”

What will happen in The Politician season 3?
Judging by what Murphy has already teased, season three will focus on the presidential race – which is Hobart’s dream.
The series has seen him get closer and closer to the ultimate goal of becoming the next American President, and fans are hoping his dream comes true.
But fans already know it is not an easy ride for the eager lead character, so he will most likely face a number of obstacles along the way.
Fans are also keen to find out more about the relationship between Hobart and his love interest Alice.
The third season may well send the cast to Washington as they start the campaign trail across the US.
Some fans were left in tears after watching the season finale, and they cannot wait for the main cast to return.
One fan said on Twitter: “Did I just watch the entire second season of #ThePolitician in one day? Yes.
“Whoever created this show, you’re a genius. The melodramatic plot appeals to younger audiences while still teaching them important truths about our political system. Bravo.”
At the end of season two fans found out the race between the two candidates ended in a draw, and they needed to find a way to settle the contest.
But fans got emotional when Standish decided to pull out of the race, realising her opponent’s potential.
