Strictly Come Dancing may 'delay' first same-sex pairing until next year

A show spokesperson previously told “Strictly Come Dancing is an inclusive show and we are proud to have featured same-sex dancing amongst the professional dancers in group numbers in the previous series.

“We are completely open to the prospect of including same-sex pairings between our celebrities and professional dancers in the future, should the opportunity arise.”

Elsewhere, gossip has begun over who might be putting on their sequins and heels this year, with frontrunners to sign-up including names such as Eamonn Holmes, Jack P Shephard and Jamie Laing.

Fans will remember Jamie was supposed to compete on the programme last year but was forced to pull out after sustaining a foot injury in the first group dance – will he be back for another shot later this year?

A Strictly Come Dancing spokesperson declined to comment.

Strictly Come Dancing is set to return later this year to BBC One.
