LINE of Duty’s Daniel Mays doesn’t believe Ted Hastings (Adrian Dunbar) is mysterious H, but admits it could still happen.
The actor – who played Sergeant Danny Waldron in the drama’s third series – says you can’t “ever second guess” the show’s creator and writer Jed Mercurio.

The Code 404 star told Digital Spy: “I don’t think it’s Hastings.
“They’ve already dangled that carrot and I thought it can’t possibly be Adrian Dunbar.
“But you can’t ever second guess Jed Mercurio. I’ve no idea.”
Mays character, Danny, was killed after just one episode.

In those 60 minutes, Danny achieved a lot as he shared a kiss with Rachel O’Connor and had chance to share his heartbreaking backstory about growing up in a care home.
Sadly he was shot and killed before the credits could roll, making season three, episode one his first and last appearance on the show.
The actor says he was “gutted” his storyline didn’t go further.
He explained: “I was well aware that I was going into that job and was literally only going to shoot one episode – albeit probably the best episode I’ve ever shot of any drama I’ve been involved in.

“But I mean, look, personally, I was gutted, because he was such a wonderful character, and I felt that there was obviously more material and more storylines and backstory to delve into.”
However Daniel, who was most recently seen in Netflix series White Lines, has no hard feelings towards his short but sweet stint on Line of Duty, which stars Martin Compston, Vicky McClure and Adrian Dunbar.
He concluded: “But I can’t complain. Line of Duty was a complete game-changer for me.
“To get to work alongside Martin, Adrian and Vicky was just such a privilege.”
Line of Duty is available to stream on BBC iPlayer and Netflix.
