How to live longer: Want to live to see 100? New study shows key to boost life expectancy

As of 2011, there are estimated to be between 400 to 500 centenarians living in New Zealand.

Of these, fewer than 40 would be aged over 105. The mean age of those interviewed in the study was 101.

The centenarians were more likely to be female (75 percent) and in any age group, women were more likely to be free of the common chronic diseases outlined above.
