This Morning presenter Eamonn Holmes, 60, has taken to Instagram to share an unearthed picture of himself alongside We’ll Meet Again singer Dame Vera Lynn, who died yesterday aged 103.
The ITV host could be seen sharing a stage with the Forces’ sweetheart in his younger presenting years.
Vera could be seen smiling and waving at what appears to be a crowd, as Eamonn looked on.
In view of his 643,000 followers, he wrote: “She was something Special wasn’t she? Goodbye to Dame Vera Lynn on today’s @thismorning.”
Dame Vera died yesterday, surrounded by her loved ones.
A statement from her family reads: “The family are deeply saddened to announce the passing of one of Britain’s best-loved entertainers at the age of 103.
“Dame Vera Lynn, who lived in Ditchling, East Sussex, passed away earlier today, 18 June 2020, surrounded by her close family.”
The singer, who was dubbed the Forces’ sweetheart, rose to fame during World War Two.
During this time, she performed for troops in countries including Egypt, India and Burma.
She is best known for her hits such as and We’ll Meet Again and The White Cliffs Of Dover.
Many of Eamonn’s fans flocked to his post to comment on his throwback with the star, including Loose Women panellist Saira Khan.
She commented: “Her songs and her voice send shivers up my spine.”
