THE racing won’t be winning any awards on Tuesday, but after three months of no sport let’s not get too sniffy.

Chepstow’s evening card throws up a few punting opportunities and our man Callum Jamieson fancies one in the feature handicap at 6.10.

Nine runners are set to go to post for this Class 4 heat over seven furlongs and those numbers tend to make for a good betting race.

The most interesting runner on paper, may well be Clive Cox’s new recruit Kitcarina who has joined the yard after a handful of runs for Andrew Balding.

She joined Balding from France and won on her British debut, suggesting fresh may be the best time to get her. She’s not run for 285 days and is only a pound higher than that win.

She’ll be in the mix for a yard in form and if the betting suggests a big run it may be best to take notice.

But top of my shortlist is OLOROSO for the in-form team of Balding and jockey Rob Hornby.

He doesn’t win as often as he probably should, but his two runs at Kempton have hinted of some improvement and his latest close fourth to a well-handicapped winner could well have been close to a career best.

A mark of 71 should be workable and this is a very winnable race. He should be fine back on the grass and there’s little in the way of unexposed dangers.

One threat could be Heather Main’s Marshal Dan who ran well at Kempton last time. He may improve for the straight seven furlongs too.

Roger Teal’s Lucky Louie is only a couple of pounds higher than his last win. The seven-year-old will be in with a shout dropped back in trip and has the benefit of a recent run.

Mr Top Hat is on a very attractive mark but has shown very, very little of late. Just keep an eye on him in the betting though. The yard know when they are ready to strike.

Rookie trainer George Boughey has made a strong start to the season so also keep tabs on his new recruit Absolutio in the market.
